What helps
Useful things to include
- What the items actually are. "A sofa, two bed frames and about ten boxes" gets a far better answer than "some furniture".
- Roughly what fraction of a truck. A guess is fine. Volume is the unit everything is priced in, so even a rough one moves the conversation forward.
- Ground level, or up and down stairs. This changes the price more than anything else you can tell us, and it is the detail most often left out.
- Whether anything holds refrigerant. Fridges, freezers, wine coolers, dehumidifiers and air conditioners all do, and they are handled and priced separately.
- Whether there is a date. A closing, a lease ending or a contractor arriving changes what can be offered.
- Photographs from the doorway. Better than photographs from inside, and much better than a description of a full garage by someone who has stopped seeing it.
What happens next

Two things worth doing first
Take the free categories out of the pile before anyone quotes: screens and computers go to E-Cycle Washington at no charge, and paint, stains and sealers go to a PaintCare drop-off. Both directly reduce the volume you are about to be charged for.
And check what your own utility service already covers on the City of Bellevue's solid waste pages. Bellevue contracts a single hauler for garbage, recycling and composting, and some larger items can be scheduled through them.
If you are checking a company
Hauling solid waste for compensation in Washington requires a certificate from the Utilities and Transportation Commission, and the commission publishes a register of holders and the areas they cover.
